IN CASE YOU MISSED IT… Sen. Rick Scott, Rep. Scott Perry Host Press Conference on Debt Ceiling and Spending Reforms with Senate Colleagues and House Freedom Caucus Members

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In case you missed it, today, Senator Rick Scott and House Freedom Caucus Chairman Scott Perry joined by Senator Mike Lee and Representatives Chip Roy, Dan Bishop, Bob Good, Byron Donalds, Lauren Boebert, Michael Cloud, Andy Biggs, Ben Cline and Ralph Norman, of the House Freedom Caucus, hosted a joint press conference to discuss debt ceiling and spending reforms. Sen. Rick Scott: Lyin’ Biden Can’t Hide From His Own Attacks on Social Security and Medicare

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech last night.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Last night, Joe Biden rambled for a while, but it seems he forgot to share the facts: In my plan, I suggested the following: All federal legislation sunsets in five years. If a law is worth keeping, Congress can pass it again. This is clearly and obviously an idea aimed at dealing with ALL the crazy new laws our Congress has been passing of late. Joe Biden is confused… to suggest that this means I want to cut Social Security or Medicare is a lie, and is a dishonest move… from a very confused President. Does he think I also intend to get rid of the U.S. Navy? Or the border patrol? Or air traffic control, maybe? This is the kind of fake, gotcha BS that people hate about Washington. I’ve never advocated cutting Social Security or Medicare and never would. I will not be intimidated by Joe Biden twisting my words, or Chuck Schumer twisting my words – or by anyone else for that matter. HOWEVER, Biden and Democrats did, in fact, cut Medicare just last year. They lie about it and the liberal media covers for them. If they think they can shut me up or intimidate me by lying… I’m here for it… I’m ready to go. I will not be silenced by the Washington establishment.”

CBS Miami: Rick Scott says he will seek reelection to U.S. Senate seat

MIAMI — With two years remaining in his first term, Sen. Rick Scott on Wednesday told a group in South Florida that he is planning to seek reelection to the U.S. Senate seat he first won nearly four years ago.

Speaking during an appearance in Doral to detail his legislative priorities as part of his “Make Washington Work” stop, Florida’s junior Republican senator spoke about his future.

“It’s been a great opportunity to represent you,” he said. “I’ve got two more years (and) I’ll be running for reelection. I’m going to work my butt off.”

Florida voters sent Scott to the U.S. Senate after he served two terms in Tallahassee as the state’s governor.

His current term will end on Jan. 3, 2025, and if he follows through with his announced plans, he will be on the ballot in November 2024 when voters will also be voting for a candidate for U.S. president.

During the stop in Doral, Scott said his plan during the 118th Congress is to “fight for Florida families” with legislative priorities around spending and economic development.

Scott has stepped up his profile in Washington, D.C., having been elected by his colleagues to lead the National Republican Senatorial Committee for last year’s mid-term elections.
